Yes, all international tourists visiting China are required to apply for a visa. The most common type is the tourist visa (L visa), which allows you to stay for up to 30 days. If you’re passing through certain cities (like Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou) and hold a valid passport, you may be eligible for a 144-hour visa-free transit. This option allows you to explore the city without a visa for up to six days, provided you meet specific conditions, such as traveling to a third country. Click here to check more informations about 144-hour visa free policy. For more details on visa requirements, application processes, and eligibility for the visa-free transit, please check the official Chinese embassy or consulate website or consult us at info@tangolatravels.com.

Basically, no additional permits are required for most of China. However, if you plan to travel to Tibet, you must apply for a Tibet Travel Permit in addition to your visa. We suggest applying for the permit at least 30 days in advance. You’ll need to confirm details about your Tibet trip, including your travel date, nationality, number of travellers, duration in Tibet, and specific destinations you wish to visit.
